Michael Rodriguez is a Dominican writer in New York City.
He is most recently writing and developing shows for animated children’s television.
In 2018, he was a writing fellow for the Sesame Street Writers Room.
Some people think he is funny. His humor writing has appeared on McSweeney’s, Points in Case, Funny Or Die, Thought Catalog and more.
He also writes sketch comedy with his team MellowDramatic, and some of his sketches have been featured in Comedy Cake magazine.
He was trained in sketch writing at the Upright’s Citizens Brigade Theatre, and has written for the theatre’s long-running program, “Sketch Cram.”
He’s a librettist at the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop, the premiere training ground for musical theater writers.
He graduated from Columbia University, where he founded the school’s first digital sketch comedy network, CUSS, a group of 50+ artists who collaborate on weekly sketch comedy videos.
He also wrote a musical about feeling like an imposter at a predominately white school, featuring the song “There’s A Dead White Man Inside Us All.”
He’s worked at CAA - NY, Above Average Productions, Tribeca Film, Rooftop Films, and in the writers office for CBS’ show Blue Bloods.
